Hi everyone and thank you for tuning in to the comedy Josh Gondelman. He's a stand-up comedian and humor writer who in

2012 co-created the Modern Seinfeld Twitter account which became a viral

sensation, won the Best Parity Account Shorty Award, and catapulted him onto the staff of

HBO's last week tonight with John Oliver, which was just getting off the ground,

and where he initially focused on interactive programming and then became a

full-fledged writer. He and his fellow last week tonight writers won Peabody

awards in 2014 and 2017 were nominated for and won the Best Comedy

Variety Talk Series Writers Guild of America Award in 2017, 2018, and 2019

and were nominated for the Best Writing for Variety Series Emmy in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and

2019 winning in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

We'll find out about 2019 on September 22nd.

Earlier this year, he surprised a lot of people

by leaving that show to take a job with Showtime's new late night talk series,

De Zeus and Merrow, where he is both a writer and supervising producer.

He's been busy with plenty of other stuff as well, including his third comedy album,

Dancing on a Weeknight, and his second book, This one a collection of humorous essays entitled

Nice Try, Stories of Best Intentions and Mixed Results.

But first I was joined at the offices of the Hollywood reporter by Gil Robertson,

the president of the African American Film Critics Association,

which will be presenting on Monday its first ever TV honors.

They've been doing film honors for a decade, but this is the first time with TV.
