Today, we are going to talk about the symbols of Christ that we find in the Joseph story.

And before we get into talking about Joseph himself as the symbol of Christ, I just want to

touch lightly on something that I know I mentioned in my interview with Joe Spencer, but

it's worth thinking about because I think it's so powerful.

And that's the symbol that Judah plays, and Judah, of course, is the ancestor of Christ.

The symbol that Judah plays where we have someone who, when Joseph, who's still in disguise

at this point, says that he's going to keep Benjamin and imprison him, Judah says to Joseph,

and I'm paraphrasing, but intentionally so, he says to him, I promised my father, I would

bring this boy home. And even though it seems like he did something wrong, I am going to bring

him home. Keep me, have me pay the price for what he has done wrong, and send this boy back

to his father. I told his father, I would do it, and I'm

going to. That is what Christ did. It is such a powerful symbol of Christ in my mind. And I think

that's worth thinking about an understanding. Now, we're going to talk most of the time, the rest

of the time, about Joseph as a symbol of Christ and how he serves as the symbol in so many ways.
