During that time, a very special boy was born, who would grow up to become one of

the greatest heroes in Philippine history. His name was Jose Rizal, and his story is about courage,

learning, and fighting for freedom with words instead of weapons. The Philippines is located between

the countries of China and Australia. It's made up of three

main groups of islands called Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The biggest island is called

Luzon, and that's where the capital city of Manila is located. The weather in the Philippines

is warm and tropical all year long, which means it never gets cold like winter in other countries.

Instead, they have a dry season and a rainy season.

The people of the Philippines are called Filipinos.
