Hello and welcome back to Cult Leader.

I'm your Cult Leader Spencer Henry, and this week we are kicking off a multi-parter on

one of, if not the most infamous cults in history.

Jim Jones, People's Temple, Jones Town, whatever you want to call it.

I have always told myself that when the time came to cover this case, I want to do the story

and its entirety, so we will be breaking it up into multiple parts.

Today's episode will focus primarily on Jim's upbringing, all the way up through the beginnings

of the People's Temple and how that all came to be.

But there's so much that I learned about.

I watched a few different PBS documentaries, ABC documentaries, or DocuSeries, and then

I read this book called Road to Jones Town.

It's a biography, Jim Jones in The People's Temple, by Jeff Gwynn.

Many fantastic read, highly recommend if you want to know more about this case and this

story and how it all came to be.
