And now the good fight with Yasha Monk.

0:17.0

My name is Freddie DeBoer, and I recently published a piece for Persuasion titled

0:27.6

Why so Many Elites Feel Like Losers.

0:30.2

The purpose of my piece is to answer a fundamental question.

0:33.1

Why do so many people who have outside trappings of success,

1:20.4

it is not democratized creative success.

1:23.0

I argue in the piece that fundamentally will never have the carrying capacity for as many people who want to have creative careers to have them.

1:31.0

And that instead we should first teach people to be satisfied with having day jobs which secure

1:37.4

them their basic material security and then to create on the side in a way that they can provide them with fulfillment and potentially with a little bit of extra cash.

1:47.0

I also argue that writ large, our society has a problem with a lack of clear and definable paths to success that we have more ways to be

1:57.7

a loser than to be a winner and that we all need to take part in broadening our definition of what it means to be a successful

2:04.3

human being.

2:05.3

I hope that you'll take a look and give me some feedback.

I appreciate your time.
