Smith and Kelly Black. Hey friends, it's Kristen. I started around my 30s to try and really feel

more connected to my dad who passed away when I was just a kid by finding all of my Walker

ancestors and doing their temple work.

My dad was a comfort to the church and none of his family members ever joined, so his side of the

family is just filled with temple work opportunities. Well, one day, as I took the name of a very

close relative of my dad to the Manti Temple, I had an overwhelming feeling

that my dad had been working with this relative on the other side of the veil, preparing her

for the ordinance I was doing on this side of the veil. I cried as the ordinance was performed,

and I felt my ancestors and my dad's joy when it was complete. President Joseph F. Smith said that when

Christ was in the spirit world after his death, he organized his forces and appointed

messengers, clothed with power and authority, and commissioned them to go forth and carry the light

of the gospel to them that were in darkness. And that's in Doctrine

and Covenants 138, verse 30. As we do family history and temple work on this side of the veil,

our relatives who have already passed are working just as hard on the other side, preparing our

ancestors and feeling so much joy as we work to seal our families together. So the takeaway of the
