Summary
John Beilein will probably retire at Michigan. The 65-year-old announced on Twitter earlier this week that he would be continuing to coach the Wolverines. So, no Detroit Pistons future there. At Auburn, Bruce Pearl was rewarded with a contract extension. During the season, many believed he wouldn't be able to keep his job. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander discuss both of those coaching situations on today's episode, and they wrap up by bringing attention to a somewhat surprising move: Detroit Mercy hiring Mike Davis, who once took Indiana to the national championship game.

| 0:00.0 | Hey there, it's Gary Perish. It's Friday, June 8, 2018. Welcome back to the eye on college |
| 0:23.6 | basketball podcast. Got Matt Norlander here with me. And let's be honest, not a whole lot |
| 0:27.8 | has happened in the world of college basketball since we last spoke, which I believe was last Saturday |
| 0:33.9 | morning. But we promised you an eye on college basketball podcast every single week of the |
| 0:39.6 | offseason. And so here we are, Norlander, can you make up something to talk about? |
| 0:43.8 | Well, I there's not even anything we need to make up. We got a few things. But every single |
| 0:48.6 | week might be a little too high of a promise, because I know for sure you're going to go on a |
| 0:53.0 | vacation eventually here. And I'm going to I'm going to I mean, I got a second child coming |
| 0:56.6 | in September, Paris, I'm going to try and maybe squeeze in one even weeks staycation. So we'll get |
| 1:02.5 | it going. But let's not promise something that I know that we will not be able to deliver on, |
| 1:07.2 | because I can damn near guarantee you're going to get lost on the world at some point between now |
| 1:13.0 | and the start of the next off next season. I am taking a vacation. I believe it'll be after the |
| 1:19.8 | July evaluation period. But yeah, let's let's rephrase the promise. Here's the promise. We will have |
| 1:26.6 | a new episode of the I own college basketball podcast every week of the offseason unless one of us |
| 1:32.7 | is on vacation or unless we just don't feel like it. Yeah, that's that's totally fair. Absolutely. |
| 1:39.3 | All right. So there are three. I think right now, if you want to get some draft stuff on the |
| 1:43.5 | back end of this, we can do that. But there are three headlines from the past week. And I can't |
| 1:47.8 | believe as a side note, it's already June 8th. I mean, don't get me wrong. The offseason is very |
| 1:52.3 | long. But I just can't believe we are already more than two months removed from when we are sitting |
| 1:57.4 | in San Antonio and watching Villanova win the second title in three years. Three headlines this week |
| 2:02.3 | and a relatively slow week in college basketball. You've got the smallest of the three is Mike Davis |
| 2:08.0 | going from Texas Southern to Detroit Mercy. That coaching search lasted a long time. He's going. |
