Hours after Republican, Senator Rick Scott said the crucial shipping passage was a dangerous situation.

Without U.S. naval escorts, there are serious concerns about a prolonged closure of the

strait, the world's most important energy transport route.

It comes as Iran is stepping up its attacks,

briefly sending oil prices back above $100 a barrel. All of this appears to suggest the president

and his advisors misjudged Iran's response to attacks from the U.S. military.
