I love so many things about my guest today, and I barely know her. Scarlett Hiltabital is new to me, but she's someone I

consider an old soul in many ways. In fact, she says in her book, afraid of all the things, that

she's been writing that book since she was about nine years old. We talk about that a bit on

tomorrow's show, so make sure you come back for that. But up today, Scarlett shares with us as

the guest host on Joe, and I know she will be

especially powerful for the listener out there who can maybe relate to this idea of being

afraid of all the things.

There's a bit of all of that in us, I think, especially in this world right now, and this

author, wife and mom, who truly has lived an interesting life can speak into it in a unique way.

I love how Jesus has been the saving grace in her story like all of us who know him.

I had a chunk of about five years that ended just recently where eternity and death were all up in my face.

Five years. During that time, I had a cancer scare, like a full-blown, rapidly growing tumor, biopsy.

You'll start chemo next week if this is what we think it is. Talk with my doctor.

So that happened, and it wasn't cancer,

but then shortly after that, my mom got actual cancer, stage three, chemo, radiation surgery,

the whole thing. And then my grandpa died, and then my husband's grandpa died five years. And I think

I'm mixing up the order of some of those things. But my point is, it it was eerie how the reality of eternity was so in my

face. But during that weird season, Psalm 23 became really special to me. For a while, honestly,
