Summary

(00:00-29:19) – The Fan Midday Show opens on a Friday with Jimmy Cook and James Boyd, starting with a conversation about Damien Lillard and what the parallels are between the Portland situation and the Pacers’ past situations. Did Lillard destroy his trade value by declaring he only wants to go to Miami? What are the options for Portland? Then, the conversation shifts to some Colts talk as the two hosts discuss the future of the defensive line in Indy. What will things look like this season for the group and what does that mean for the group next offseason? Will Deforest Buckner find himself on the move?

(29:20-49:13) – Brenden Nunes, a reporter for the Sacramento Kings, joins the show to talk about who won the Tyrese Haliburton/Domantas Sabonis trade. Then, they talk about the development of Domas, DeAaron Fox and Keegan Murray. After that, it’s the Duarte trade. How will he fit in with Sacramento? What will his chemistry with Sabonis mean for the team moving forward?

(49:14-49:56) - James and Jimmy close out the first hour.

(49:56-1:20:07) – Mat Issa, an NBA writer for SB Nation, joins the program to talk about the Pacers’ offseason, starting with Tyrese Haliburton who Issa called the “Midwest Magic Johnson”. What can the Blue and Gold realistically accomplish this year and what do they need to accomplish over the life of Haliburton’s contract? Then, the conversation shifts to include the entire NBA as they look at the Damien Lillard situation in Portland. What about Boston? How will their offseason moves pan out and where do the Celtics rank among the Eastern Conference? Back to the Pacers, what will Bruce Brown bring to the team? What will Andrew Nembhard develop into this year?

(1:20:08-1:38:57) – Jimmy and James start the segment talking about the Kentucky men’s basketball team hooping at Drake’s house. Which celebrity would host Mike Woodson and IU? Then, they talk Colts with the city of Indianapolis seemingly embracing Anthony Richardson with open arms. Jimmy reminds everybody that Shane Steichen’s last QB, Jalen Hurts, was on the hot seat prior to last season and most felt that he was going to be a bust. What changed? How does this apply to Richardson?

(1:38:57-1:40:17) – James and Jimmy close out the second hour.

(1:40:24-2:10:01) – Kevin Bowen of Kevin & Query on The Fan calls in to talk about how the Saquon Barkley situation affects Jonathan Taylor and the Colts. Then, what does Shaq Leonard need to prove going into this season? What can Alec Pierce do to become a focal point in this offense and help the career trajectory of Anthony Richardson. Then, they look at the QB competition coming up in training camp. Should the team get Richardson his reps but risk a worse record, or let Gardner Minshew play and potentially win a couple extra games? Bowen reminded up that no Colts fan is upset with a 3-13 1998 season with rookie Peyton Manning setting both touchdown and interception records.

(2:10:02-2:22:59) – James and Jimmy take a step back and look at the running back position in the entire NFL with the franchise tag deadline coming up on Monday. What options do guys like Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs have at this point in their careers? What can these guys take away from the Le’Veon Bell situation and what should Jonathan Taylor be looking out for ahead of his contract extension talks?

(2:22:59-2:26:44) – The show closes with another edition of JCook Plays of the Day, BASEBALL IS BACK!
