The White House has confirmed

that the official state funeral for former President Jimmy Carter will be held on January 9th

in Washington, D.C. Carter died yesterday at the age of 100. A White House official said President

Joe Biden will deliver a eulogy at Carter's Funeral Service at the Washington National Cathedral

in the waning days of his own presidency.

Biden delivered a heartfelt speech yesterday to pay tribute to his longtime friend.

Just look at his life, his life's work.

He worked to eradicate disease not at home, but around the world.

You forged peace, advanced civil rights, human rights,

promoter free and fair elections around the world.

You built housing and homeless for the homeless with their own hands.

Public observances honoring Carter's legacy will be held in Atlanta, Georgia and Washington, D.C.,

followed by a private internment in Carter's hometown of Plains, Georgia.

That's according to the Carter Center, though final arrangements are still underway.
