Hi, it's Jim, and this is the 20th anniversary edition of the paranormal podcast last Tuesday.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary, and I thought it would do something totally different.

I don't think I've ever done this for the paranormal podcast.

I'm just going to sit here out on my deck. It's not a green screen and talk to you about the last 20 years.

And that's basically it. Now, we're doing this live to drive, so there's going to be, like, whatever that is, if you can

hear it, it's like some kind of bird or something. You're going to hear probably workers in the

neighborhood. You might hear machinery. You might even hear sheep.

We've got sheep in the neighborhood. So you're going to hear it all. We're not going to edit it out.

So there you have it. So anyway, so glad to be here. And first of all, I want to say thank you,

whether you've been with us for 20 years or 20 days. I appreciate it, knowing that we have the longest running paranormal

podcast on the internet. Not the biggest, but the longest running is quite a happy thing.

And I thank you because you were the ones who have made it possible. And I just felt like coming out here on my

deck and talking to you would be something a little more personal. So let's go back to the

beginning, 2005. Why did I start the paranormal podcast? Well, if you haven't heard this origin story

before, I had gone to school for broadcasting.

I had gone mainly in television, actually, not radio.

And my whole concept was I was going to go to a market out of school and I was going to become, you know, an assistant producer or something like that, getting people coffee and work my way up and maybe become a reporter or a producer or something like that, getting people coffee and work my way up and maybe become a reporter

or a producer or something like that. That was my plan. Well, that's not what happened. I ended up

falling into sales. I worked at a radio station. I started off as an assistant. That was a person

who would type up the contracts and help the salespeople and all of that kind of stuff.

And then I started looking at the salespeople and like, well, they make this much.

And like the people on air, believe it or not, and people I think are more sophisticated now,
