Summary

Jim Shockey is a Canadian wilderness outfitter, worldwide adventurer, television producer and host, and outdoor writer. He is the author of Call Me Hunter, a fast-paced thriller that also talks about fully experiencing the one life you have. Shockey then discusses the Hand of Man Museum and his aspiration for it to remain open and accessible to the public through donations.

He also speaks about harboring a deep and spiritual respect for animals. This might seem ironic coming from a hunter, but he believes that finding a balance in nature is our duty as members of the natural world. Shockey talks about tolerance and how it is the number one thing the world needs today, as well as staying focused on the goals you want to achieve.

So the reason why you're so notoriously popular in your community is you like to, like, am I right? Black Rifle Hunt?

1:25.0

Yeah, Black Hunter.

1:27.0

Excuse me, yes. Black Hunter. The daily crocket used only a little bit modernized. That's how I meet my name in our industry.

1:37.0

But I use archery just as much as bull and arrow or rifle as well.

1:43.0

Right. What do you enjoy really moving through the bush with? Do you enjoy a compound bow? Do you enjoy the rifle, muzzle style movement? What do you like to there?

1:54.0

What gets snagged?

The ultimate hunt is archery. But when you've got a stick in a string and a pointy arrow, you have to be close.

2:06.0

And as a hunter, if we're talking about hunting, that's what you want to do is get as close as possible and get that primal feeling of there's your quarry.

2:16.0

And you, you know, I'll use this probably often touch your ancestral soul by being able to get that close to the animal.

2:24.0

2:48.0

You know, if we think we're not, we don't have an environmental footprint because we're vegan and give me a break.

2:54.0

Yeah, right. Of course, we're all part of nature. So, yeah, when you're in the wildlands, you're as close as you can be, you know, what we were and hopefully what we will be of the future.
