Christmas celebrates the coming of Jesus to Earth, but he isn't the baby in the manger anymore.

Join us on today's podcast as we dive into the book of Hebrews to uncover the power and promise of Jesus, our great high priest. Why is it that some people

see the Christian life as an exciting journey and other people see it rather as a burdensome

kind of path that they have to walk, being unfulfilled and uncertain? And why is it that some

people seem to be able to have peace and joy in a

consistent way and other people just have it in spurts in their life? Well, there's more than one

reason for all of that, but I think one of the underlying reasons is one that we probably don't think

about. And that is, so many people have such a very inadequate view of who Jesus is, sort of a

poverty-stricken view. They don't understand who he is. They don't understand what he's up to

in their life. They don't understand what he's up to in the world. And so they put him in a category

that oftentimes separates them from his personal work in their life.

So I want you to turn, if you will, to Hebrews chapter four, and I want us to read just

three verses of this, but these are three very, very encouraging verses from Scripture,

because all of us have to come to these verses or at least to the idea

and to the concept that's here often. He says, therefore, since we have a great high priest

who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

But we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,

but one who has been tempted in all things as we are. Yet without sin, therefore let us draw

near with confidence to the throne of grace so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help

in time of need. Now all of us have needs in our life, every single one of us.
