We have an awesome conversation for you today. The Reverend Jesse Jackson has passed away,

a civil rights activist, a political activist, race vader.

And I was reminded this morning by Steve Dase that, hey, Jesse Jackson at one time did some really important work as a pastor.

And so I'm going to share a little bit about what Steve shared with his Twitter audience and sent to me.

Man, Jesse wrote a powerful essay in 1977 against abortion.

And it's an amazing piece of work, of literature, an essay, a piece of persuasion that's biblically sound and tremendous.

And it just remind you, like, no matter what we think of Jesse today,

he was different previously.

And he became all of these different things.

He seemed to have a sincere walk as a minister for a time, then transitioned into politics,

then became a businessman, and his business was race and racism and racial baiting. He became Ben Crump.

You know, maybe he started out originally trying to be MLK, and regardless of what you

may or may not think of, you know, MLK now in retrospect, but perhaps Jesse had a sincere desire to preach the gospel and shepherd

people, but that seemed to have been sidetracked by finances or fame or political power.

But we'll have that conversation today with Shemika Michelle,

Anthony Walker, Delano Squires, and Virgil Walker.

And so I want to welcome those guys in and just kind of get their initial thoughts on how should we'll just start with a simple question

how should we remember jesse jackson and then we'll go from there and so anthony i'll let

let you start us off uh anthony how should we remember Jesse Jackson?

I'm careful to mark how one grieves or how we should grieve as a minister and as one who does eulogies quite often. To eulogize one is to speak well of the dead.
