| 0:00.0 | Welcome back, everybody, to the Football Guys Daily Update. You give us 10 minutes. We'll give you everything you need to know to make you the most informed fantasy football player in your lead. I'm Bob Harris and we're 11 days away from the Cowboys and Eagles taking the field in Philadelphia to officially open the 2025 regular season. I realize some of you are just getting up to speed, though, and I'm going to do some review this morning to set the table for the coming week. We'll get the ball rolling in Minnesota where Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson |

| 0:33.0 | from today. It gives Jefferson plenty of time to work his way up to full speed before the season |
| 0:36.7 | opens in Chicago. Jordan Addison's three-game suspension and a hand injury that has Jalen Naylor listed as week-to-week make having Jefferson all the more important for first-time starters J.J. McCarthy in the Minnesota offense. It also has the Vikings considering possible moves at the position. According to ESPN's Adam Scheffert, the Vikings have inquired about trading for Carolina's Adam Thielen. The Vikings in Thielen are plenty familiar with one another. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2013 with the club and eventually emerged as a legitimate threat in 2016. Thelan's last season with Minnesota was head coach Kevin O'Connell's first with the club in 2022. Thelan caught 70 passes for 716 yards with six touchdowns that year. |
| 1:12.5 | The latest report tower suggests no real progress on the deal securing a possible reunion. |
| 1:16.8 | In the meantime, even if I'm not overly concerned about Jefferson's hamstring, the slight |
| 1:21.0 | level of uncertainty makes it hard for me to take him ahead of C.D. Lamb at this point, |
| 1:24.7 | and that's without factoring in the supporting cast, or McCarthy being a first-time starter. In New York, after sitting out most of the team's spring OTAs with a toe injury, Giants' receiver Malik Neighbors had three touchdown catches from starting quarterback Russell Wilson in the Giants' first training camp practice of the summer back in July. We haven't seen much of neighbors since that day, however, and it's fair for fantasy investors to wonder exactly how healthy he is. We all realized the toe didn't stop neighbors as a rookie last year. He had 109 catches, 1,204 yards, and 7 touchdowns. But the second year star conceded that surgery was talked about. They elected to let the toe heal and he's feeling good now, but surgery might be discussed again further down the |

| 2:04.0 | LSU will ever fully heal on its own. Adding to all that, neighbors missed 11 days of camp this month |
| 2:09.3 | due to a back issue. The problem was characterized as normal tightness. I spoke with Chris Vissignano |
| 2:14.4 | of Giant Insiders.com last Monday night. He confirmed all that. |
| 2:17.7 | And Visignano added, there's no concern among team officials about the back, although the toe is something that'll have to be managed. Still, neighbors appears to be moving well and the Giants are counting on them to be the top receiver on their team and in one of the top receivers in the league this year. Fantasy managers drafting of his wide receiver four with the eight pick overall expect the same. But are we doing it with confidence? As football guy, Sigmund Blume wrote in his annual all roll-age team, the players you're relieved if someone else drafts. For neighbors to pay off as a top 10 pick, he'll need to be on the field and not playing through injuries more often than not. It's a fair point, especially with Amon Ross St. Brown, Nico Collins, Derek Henry, |
| 2:52.0 | Ashley Genti, Pooka, and Dukua, and Brian Thomas Jr. are all going after him. In Miami, Dolphins running back to Devon A. Chan has not experienced any setbacks from his calf injury, and he's expected to resume practicing before the season opener, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. That's relief for A.C. and his fantasy teams. And after that, with A. Chan sidelined and with Alexander |

| 3:12.5 | injury, Miami planned to lead on Jalen Wright. Wright had struggled in this exhibition season, |
| 3:17.2 | averaging a yard and a half per attempt on 13 carries, but Wright was injured Thursday, and McDaniel |
| 3:21.5 | characterized him as week to week yesterday. That leaves Ollie Gordon the second to handle the tailback workload, and he did that in the final preseason game, carried the wall eight times for a team high 43 yards against the Jaguars on Saturday. While Wright will be the number two if available, Gordon, who's going to get the bulk of the first team work in practice this week is an ideal fit for the offense. I spoke with Travis Wingfield to the team's official website last week. Wingfield is keen on Gordon. Gordon has made his case, Wingfield said, and this was before Saturday's game. The other things Wingfield told me, the way he looks on those outside zone runs that the scheme is predicated on and running them with power, those were all on display against the Jaguars. also said Gordon as a player fantasy investors can get late in drafts and stashed for playoff runs. He could be a huge part of the offense, especially in scoring situations. Gordon is being drafted as running back 61 in round 16. In Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers plan to activate wide receiver Chris Godwin off the physically unable to perform list and add him to their 53 man roster to start the season, but Godwin won't be an immediate contributor. Head coach Todd Bulls told reporters on Thursday that the Buccaneers want Godwin on the 53 man roster when the season starts so he's eligible to practice with the team and to make sure the whiteout is quicker to get into football shape. Sources told Shepffer that Godwin is unlikely to play until October as he continues |
| 4:31.5 | recovering from the fractured ankle he suffered in week seven last season. Remember, Tampa Bay will start the season shorthanded at Whiteout anyhow due to the recovery timeline for Godwin and the recent neck injury to Jalen McMillan, who's scheduled to start the season on injured reserve and could be sidelined until after the buck's week 9 by. That's going to put the on |
