Big news popping downtown.

Delta Airlines top lobbyist Andrea Fisher Newman is retiring later this summer, capping off a 22-year career in the airline industry.

Newman will stay on to assist with the transition.

The company is starting to search

for her successor. To say the gig will be much sought after is an understatement. And we've got a

scoop this morning. Garrett Lansing, the Republican National Committee's top digital mind,

is joining the Trump White House as chief digital officer. Lansing is expected to have a vast

portfolio, doing everything from creating content for the White House and engaging the public to taking the lead on overhauling some government technical resources.

One thing to watch today, Republicans punching back at criticism of their cabinet nominees.

Senate ethics chairman Johnny Isaacson gave a preview when he took to the Senate floor last night to defend Tom Price,

Donald Trump's HHS nominee. Lots of confirmation hearings on the Hill today. Scott Pruitt,

Trump's EPA nominee. Nikki Haley, up for UN ambassador and Tom Price for HHS, are all on the hot seat.
