despite her prior commitment to Miss Tilney, causing an argument.

John Thorpe then lies to Miss Tilney, falsely claiming Catherine cancelled their walk.

Upset by his deception, Catherine rushes to the Tilneys to explain and clear the air.

Later, the Allens confirm that young ladies driving alone with young men is improper,

validating her decision and leaving her relieved that she stood her ground, though concerned now for Isabella. Now that we're caught up with the story so far,
