Can Joe Biden get through to Joe Mention or Kirsten Cinema?

Put this time in your calendar today, 1 p.m. Eastern. that's when the president will appear at a Democratic caucus meeting to try to rally senators behind the party's voting reform proposal.

In keeping with his Georgia speech this week, he's expected to call on them to do whatever it takes, including making an end run-run filibuster, to, as he puts it, save

democracy.

But Sen.

Joe Manchin and Kirsten Cinema aren't budging on the filibuster, and Thursday's appearance

is unlikely to change that.

After his aggressive speech in Georgia, it will be worth watching just how hard Biden pushes

in the closer confines of the Democratic Conference.

He still wants to pass some version of his buildback better plan, but so far, Mention

has refused to return to the negotiating table.

Biden can't exactly afford to alienate him further.

For what it's worth, a person close to Senator Kirsten Siddima told Playbook Wednesday night

that she's actually looking forward to the rules debate,

but she's reiterated her concern that nuking the filibuster will turn the Senate into a version of the House.

While she says she supports the Democrats voting bill, Cinema has argued that people who love

democracy can fundamentally disagree on the filibuster. Here's how we expect this all to go down today.
