Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing James Potter and why I think

he was actually kind of awful. Now before you rush to the comments, hear me out. I know James is Harry's

father. I know he fought Voldemort and I know he eventually became a good person who died protecting

his family.

But if we take a closer look at who James was during his years at Hogwarts, the picture we get is a lot less flattering.

Born March 27, 1960, James was the son of Flemont and Euphemia Potter, a wealthy, powerful, pure-blo blood couple with deep magical roots.

His family was affluent, thanks to several generations of successful potioners, well established

in the wizarding community and respected.

So needless to say, he grew up with a pretty strong sense of status and superiority.

James was also an only child, and while this might not seem

like a big deal on the surface, it's definitely worth noting how this can affect a person.

As an only child, James would have received the full brunt of his parents' love, attention,

and resources, and never had to share or compromise with a sibling. And it's exactly this kind

of upbringing that can sometimes lead to a sense of entitlement and an inflated sense of self.

And if we take just a quick look at how James behaved at Hogwarts, well, it starts to make a lot of

sense. The books and films don't provide us with a ton of insights into

James' school years, but from the few insights we do get via Dumbledore's Pencef and Snape's

memories, he doesn't leave a particularly good impression. More often than not, the James we see is

misbehaving, and while some of his friends, like Sirius, might have dismissed this as simple

mischief or harmless pranks, the truth is that James wasn't just mischievous. He was often
