Today we begin a series on Jack the Ripper. In part one, we'll learn about the east end

0:15.2

of London in the mid 19th century. From boarding houses to brothels to crime riddled streets,

0:21.3

the setting proved the perfect location for a criminal, specifically a murderer to get

0:25.9

away with their acts. Today we'll look at a few murders in this area and begin to explore

0:30.9

the canonical five killings. I'm Mike. I'm Ian. And I'm Dave. If you thought Jack the Ripper

0:37.6

was the nickname Ian gave his left hand while jerking off to the trashy boners subreddit,

0:42.8

stick around. It is, but this episode is about the other guy. This is Necronomopod.

And this became the main source of employment in the east end. Those who could afford to live in

1:13.2

1:18.7

lived in extreme poverty and suffered from appalling sanitary conditions. Houses were crowded

1:25.6

closely together and usually very badly built because there was no regulation. But the poor and

1:31.4

needy were attracted by the possibility of work. Ian, how you feeling? Feeling pretty good.

1:39.9

Yeah. Yeah, back to normal. Welcome back. You were a little under the weather last week.

1:43.3

I was at a bunch of soup. Feel better. Better than sponges, I guess. It is better than sponges.

1:50.4

More nutritious. I think our non-patrons won't necessarily know that story, but more

1:55.2

reason to get on patreon.com, I guess. You hear all about me eating sponges. Yeah.

1:59.6

But you're feeling better? Yeah. Yeah. Feeling good. Our listeners will be happy.

2:04.4

You know, they were live-ed that we didn't do a show for them last week, the needy-fuckers.

2:09.0

I believe the exact quote was, I don't give a shit if you're sick Ian. Give me a show you bitch.
