It's often been said that if mixed martial arts was around in Danny Hodges day,

he'd be dominant.

Here's another way to look at it.

If anyone came along today with Danny Hodges gift. Here's decades since he dominated the collegiate wrestling mats, the proud native of Perry, Oklahoma

still inspires awe.

In winning three NCAA national wrestling titles at the University of Oklahoma, Hodge was never

taken down. Not once in his entire collegiate career.

No one else has done that.

He pinned all of his final opponents en route to those titles.

The Hodge Trophy, Amateur Wrestling's Heisman, is named after him.

He went on to win a silver medal in the 1956 Olympics.

He was one fluke point away from gold.

Then, Mr. Hodge started knocking people out.

In 1956, he won the Golden Glove's title at Heavyweight and went 18 and 0 as an amateur boxer,

notching 12 KOs.

He then went on to a successful near 20-year career in pro wrestling back when that was

the prime option for an elite wrestler looking to make good money. Today, in the wake of so many successful amateur wrestlers finding success in mixed martial arts

were becoming accustomed to the Danny Hodges of the world being scouted by MMA promoters,

fans, and media from the collegiate mat all the way to the bright lights of

pay-per-view.

Still today, in Perry, Oklahoma, as Chairman of that state's boxing and MMA Commission.
