JJ grew up a little bit. Now here's what I think is interesting about this whole thing.

Coming out of college, one of the things that people used as a positive for J.J. McCarthy

was that he was mature beyond his age.

That's very true. Look at him being a leader of men to a national championship.

And it was so prevalent that it made people disregard the fact that he didn't throw the ball at all, really.

And they ran their way and played great defense on their way to a national championship.

I'm not saying he didn't make any plays.

He made a bunch.

But the jump for him to be a top 10 pick seemed ludicrous at the time.
