We're in Italy. What are we doing in Italy? That's odd.

National championships, isn't it? Yeah. It's that brilliant weekend. We're pre-recording this,

obviously, so everything we say, not only will be inept and hopelessly wildly wrong, but also

dated by the time you listen to this. That aside, it's the penultimate, sorry, it's the last weekend

before the Tour of France starts, and it's the wonderful day when across all of Europe

and other bits of the world, it's National's Day

and all the conventional rules of cycling are torn up

and we get a race unlike any other.

And it's a race that is the weekend

where the Tour de France team sort of finalised their

Ross dros. Is that a word?

Yeah, often, I don't know, but often riders are given a target actually, you know, often in the

time trial but also in the road races about what they have to achieve in their own national

championships in order to affect their selection.

And then some of them are told that they're not riding the tour just before.
