Welcome and second. I'm excited for this one because I am not heavily read and researched in the way of Phantom Black dog.

So I'm looking forward to learning a whole bunch this morning.

Well, first of all, Shannon, thank you very much for having me on the show.

I've been a fan for a long time. As you say, we've had periodic correspondence throughout probably the time that you've been doing the show.

So I'm really happy to be here today. You know, the Phantom Black dog thing actually started, as you say, with my fictional novel, Hunting Beast.

I was looking around for a topic that really hadn't been done in the world of urban fantasy.

You know, and everybody's doing werewolves and they're doing vampires and they're doing the say and all that sort of thing.

I wanted something different. And I happen to be one of those people who is, how would you say, things that go bump in the night nerd and have been for years and years and years.

And I was reading a, I think it was alien animals by the boards, Janet and Colin board.

I came across this whole chapter about these black dog apparitions.

The black dog is, is actually an apparition. It's something that appears to people in their, you know, in their various states.

You know, it's a large, it's usually seen as a very large black dog, often with glowing eyes and we're talking self illuminating eyes.

The thing about these guys is that they appear and disappear at will.

And, you know, there's a whole ton of high strangeness that's attached to the dog, its appearance and so forth.

So I saw this article and I was thinking to myself, wow, that's kind of cool.
