They wanted it to be investigated as a hate crime, of course, right?

We all knew it wasn't true and this story was falling apart very quickly,

but it didn't matter because Joe Biden tweeted the time.

What happened today to Jesse Smolette must never be tolerated in this country.

We must stand up into man that we no longer give this hate safe harbor.

That homophobia and racism have no place in our streets or in our hearts.

Kamala Harris at the time said,

just Smolette is one of the kindest most gentle human beings I know.

Maybe at the bathhouse, but we'll go with that in a moment.
