And the irony of the fact that while I was working on this episode the last few days,

I did not have somewhere on my person to stash cough drops or a Kleenex.

Well, this irony did not escape me.

For a couple days in a row now, the outfits that I have happened to have been wearing did not have pockets.

And this is of course a common frustration shared by millions of us who wear women's clothing today.

Oh, yeah.

And not entirely a problem exclusive to modernity as we will find out in this episode.

For centuries, garments gendered for women have proportionately had far less pockets than those intended for their male counterparts.

And as the architect Bernard Rudolfski pointed out in the Museum of Modern Arts first ever exhibition to probe the topic of clothing.
