Welcome to the Saturday Podcast.

Today's podcast is very special to me because this is something I wanted to do for a very long time

but I didn't have the ability to do it until we started the Saturday podcast.

You probably know that I have a great deep abiding

respect and admiration for Thomas Soul.

We've played little clips of his stuff here and there before.

But I'm about to play you is almost two hours long

Which makes it impossible to fit within our radio schedule

This is a fascinating study on the origin of black American culture and Ibonics.

Now Thomas Sol is a black man, most of you probably know that.

He's a black man who began his professional career as what we

would call liberal but he was close to a socialist. There's definitely a small L, I mean a capital L liberal with Democrat leanings and more heavy-handed

government leanings.

And his time as a student under Milton Friedman at the University of Chicago,

where most people think he changed it.

That didn't change him.
