Yesterday was the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang

Now I happen to think that somewhere along the way the Ford Mustang lost its way

because when I was growing up the Ford Mustang was probably the coolest automobile you could

imagine. I grew up craving a 57 Chevy, which

literally nobody ever talks about today, and a Ranchero or an El Camino.

I thought the El Camino was the coolest vehicle ever because it was half car and half truck man could

it have been any cooler. And then they just stopped. They just stopped. Now, I liked the bigger models,

late 60s, late 60s, then by the late 70s early 80s they were getting small and they

were two-toned and I just didn't find them to be as cool anymore they were

kind of making a more car-like and less clunky. But Leaacocca's role in the Mustang and the rollout of the Mustang.

We were Ford Family.

But a lot of other families were Ford families.

But I always had a grudging respect for the Ford Mustang,

especially the 60s models.

And that was my dream car growing up.

Well, the rollout of the Ford Mustang,

I just can't imagine anything like this today

because you have so many different cable channels and websites.

You can't get everybody's attention at one time, but back then you could.

So it was the New York World's Fair and it was 60 years ago yesterday.

The night before that, Ford had purchased an hour of prime time television.
