Israel withdrew more soldiers from southern Gaza, including from the city of Hunn-unice, saying it had concluded its mission there.

It has been under pressure to relieve its reservists.

Palestinians displaced from the area to Ruffer began returning to their homes.

Meanwhile Israel and Hamas both sent delegations to Egypt for renewed ceasefire negotiations.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that any agreement would require the release

of its hostages.

Around 130 remain in Gaza.

Sunday marks six months since their capture.

Janet Yellen, America's Treasury Secretary

and Lee Chiang, China's Premier, struck a conciliatory tone as they met in Beijing.

Miss Yellen raised concerns about China's industrial overcapacity, but said that the two countries owed it to the world to cooperate despite their complex relationship.

The countries had begun to put bilateral relations on a more stable footing, she said.

Mr Lee called the talks constructive.

More than 4,000 people were evacuated after flooding in Russia's southwestern Orinburg region.
