Israeli bombs and missiles have rained down again in the last 24 hours on Central and

southern Gaza. Hundreds more are dead. Another hospital destroyed.

We need a new system. We need a new society. We need to demand that which may have sounded impossible even a few weeks ago,

but is not only realizable, but an imperative necessity. Welcome to the Socialist Program. I'm your host, Brian Becker. Today we're talking with Yara Safani. She is a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement and a PhD student in political science at York University.

And Janine Harani, a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement, we're talking to Janine from the United Kingdom. Welcome to the show.

Thank you. Thanks so much for having us on, Brian. Thank you both. We're all in this movement

together. Yara, you are in Toronto. You have had massive protests in Toronto, perhaps the biggest

ever in Canada in support of the Palestinian people.

Janine, you're in the UK, massive, huge demonstrations against the war in Gaza, denouncing the

genocide, demanding a ceasefire, condemning the British government's alliance with genocide Joe

and the U.S. government in its support for this genocide, we can see

that there is a global movement. There has been a sea change in consciousness. The Israeli government,

with the exception of a support it receives from the White House and from both parties in Congress,

is relatively isolated globally.

But the war is going on.

We're entering now the fourth month of the war waged by the Israeli defense forces

against the people of Gaza.

More than 23,000 are dead, perhaps hundreds of thousands wounded.

Most people have had their homes either destroyed or at least

partly damaged, perhaps a million people who have been displaced. A humanitarian crisis, the UN

rapporteur says the people in Gaza are facing starvation. And yet the war goes on. What from your point of view, Yara,

is Netanyahu and the Israeli military? What are their objectives? What are they doing right now?
