This is the world. I'm Carol Hills. And I'm Carolyn Beeler. Explosions lit up the sky over Tehran, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem today as Israel and Iran traded fire. It began when Israel launched dozens of airstrikes beginning early this morning. They targeted Iran's key nuclear facilities and also killed several of the country's top military commanders and nuclear scientists.

The Israeli military also struck densely populated residential areas in Iran's capital, Tehran.
