I'm John Batchew with my colleague. That is Makar of American Greatness, and we're welcoming Malcolm Holine back from traveling in the region with his Medal of Honor. But that means we have to turn to Lebanon since Malcolm's been away. There's a new president elected by two-thirds or more of the legislature.

His name is Aoun A-O-U-N.

At the same time, there are questions about Lebanon's choice of prime minister.

Why is this critical, Malcolm?

Well, it's very critical because there's been no president.

General Ayn was the head of the military forces.

And as you know, under Lebanon's

sectarian power sharing system, it has to be somebody from the Christian community. And there's

been no president, I think, for over two years. And they had the caretaker government. Now he has to go

and find a prime minister, which is reserved for a Sunni Muslim.

And the leading candidate seemed to be the caretaker, until now Najib Makati, who is not

considered favorable. The anti-Kizbalah lawmaker, Mahzummi, who is backed by others, is the second

candidate. And then the presiding judge at the International

Court of Justice in the Hague, Nawaf Salam, who's demonstrated his prejudices against Israel

when these cases have come up. So he's the third possibility. And we know that the Barry,

Nabil Berry, it was very powerful. And his Amal movement support McCanti.

So it's going to be a contentious race now to see what happens.

McCanty has already formed three governments in the past and has good relations with the political parties and some foreign countries.

But it will depend on and general Aoun, people will know the name because the former

president, the last president, was also Mikhala Anun, Aoun, who is 91 years old and was also a general.

So the situation in Lebanon is certainly

in flux right now.
