The question is, what are they fighting in Gaza now?

We're looking at a destroyed organization. It's heads and sub-heads and sub-sub-heads

generally removed. The hostages remain part of the conversation.

Do you see any movement, Jeff, whatsoever, to a ceasefire that would allow the hostages to be

freed and what's left of Hamas to leave Gaza permanently?

Very little, John.

Mr. Secretary of State, Mr. Blinking, is in the region right now,

and clearly he has been outspoken about this is an opportunity for us to move

forward with a ceasefire. Egyptians have suggested a so-called small ceasefire in a

small exchange and there have been other efforts by the Qataris.

Whether there is maximum interest, quite frankly, in the two principles, that being Israel and

that being Hamas, in terms of conducting such negotiations in a meaningful fashion does not to my mind look very likely at the

moment on the Israeli side rather than discussing the death of Mr. Sinwar as an opportunity.
