The families here are shocked and surprised.

And here at home, the Trump administration is trying to pressure the state of Maine

into banning transgender girls from female school sports, threatening to pull all federal

funding from the state and launching

investigations with agencies that typically have nothing to do with gender or school sports

at all.

What the Trump administration is asserting is that the very participation of transgender girls

in girls sports is discriminatory against women.
