The war in Gaza is not only the conflict between the IDF and Hamas. It also involves rhetoric,

rhetoric that from Washington to Jerusalem and vice versa, rhetoric to the capitals of Europe, and especially

rhetoric involving Tehran, Beirut, Cairo, all of this with gunfire in the background, and I welcome Jonathan Schanser of the

Foundation for the Defense of Democracy, the Vice President, to help me sort out some of the rhetoric

that's very much taking place of the gunfire right now

between allies and between adversaries.

I begin immediately with a headline from the times of Israel.

This is a quote from Mr. Netanyahu, the Prime Minister, that is, quote, inconceivable, end quote,

that US has been withholding some arms from Israel, what was my first reaction?

Now, the word inconceivable doesn't commit the Prime Minister to the facts of the matter.

There is a suggestion that something changed and has changed again.

Good evening. Well, we've actually been watching this sort of strange dance

between the US and Israel for several months now. I think perhaps in the immediate

aftermath of Ramadan, so somewhere around mid-April, the US began to

signal that it was concerned that Israel could possibly have been engaging in things that might look like war crimes.

Now of course we know that Israel has been incredibly careful on the battlefield that has done no such thing.

No war crimes have been committed, not anywhere near the things that have been
