And I'm Marco Wurman. Thank you for tuning in. Israel says it attempted to assassinate members of Hamas leadership in the Persian Gulf

country of Qatar. The IDF says it intended to hit back at leaders of an organization that, quote, initiated and

organized the October 7th massacre. The strikes today mark a major escalation in the region.

A White House spokesperson today rebuked the attack and said they were notified ahead of time and in turn

notified the Qataris. This comes at a time when negotiations to end the war in Gaza

had been underway. I spoke about the strike this afternoon with the world's Sharanjafari.

First of all, let me point out that this is a highly unusual event. Qatar is a small nation in the

Persian Gulf, but it also plays a significant role in the region and beyond.

It's always been this mediator between the U.S. and some of its biggest adversaries.
