How to distinguish my thoughts from the Holy Spirit's voice?

I want to share with you eight things to pay attention to

in trying to discern the voice of the Lord.

In Deuteronomy chapter 4 verse 19, it says take heed lest you lift up your eyes to heaven

and when you see the sun, the moon and the stars and all of the hosts of heaven,

you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the Lord your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage.

So we see when we redirect our focus from the Creator to the creation, we can find ourselves being driven, feel driven, to do certain things that are actually not from the Lord.

The Bible makes it very clear that it's possible to be deceived by your feelings,

it's possible to be driven by your feelings and feel a sense of urge, an impulse,

a sense of drive, a sense of, man, I feel like this is what I need to do.

And those things might not be from the Lord.

In fact, they could be contrary to the Lord.

Your feelings are important to God. He created them.

And God can use your feelings, your emotions, and your thoughts to communicate.

But also, they could be a channel by which the enemy can draw you into sin and disobedience.

You can feel driven, feel like you need to do something

because it's a very strong impression and those things might not be from the Lord.
