Hello there, I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Toddcast, so we are recording on January

5th.

And Democrats in Congress are using the one-year anniversary for the attack on the Capitol

to focus on voting rights, whether or not the legislative push makes its way over the

finish line well, one thing that will have a big impact on 2022 are the new House District,

whether the federal government and legislation creates new efforts to deal with it or not.

Every 10 years, the states redraw their political lines and so far about two-thirds of states

have adopted their new congressional district maps, but there's one thing we know already,

the biggest loss won't be among districts with solid red or solid blue voters.

The biggest loss has been the loss of competitive districts, those rare seats that actually

determine control of the House every two years.

Which makes us wonder, how do we get out of this mess?

Do we actually need gerrymandering as the solution to our old problem of gerrymandering?
