Today we are doing a review of The Naked Gun, a movie that we have praised to the point where I get accused now of taking money from Paramount. That's become a regular thing anytime I talk about it now as people are like, you obviously took a deal with Paramount to promote this movie. Kirk reached out and was like, is it actually good? I was like, yes, it's really good. It's actually good. We're not fucking with you. And I think that the positive word of mouth and the people that have seen it has reinforced that. And the fact that it made $17 million and it's opening weekend for comedy in 2025. With old actors? Yes. With old actors. And when you think about Liam Neeson, it was his highest grossing first weekend. I think they said in like 15 years. Since taken three. Since taken three. Wow. So like yeah it's crazy like it's gonna be fun to talk about we've been waiting to talk about this for a while me and goodch had seen it for i think a month ago now uh you've seen it you've seen it at least two weeks right i saw it with with you guys i saw with both of you guys at the screen yeah so you were stuck like waiting on it for two. You had a video filmed with Tommy and Robbie for like two weeks.

Yeah.

1:35.2

Very, very close for my third time.

1:36.9

And it's not that we're taking pay to speak the praises on this,

1:41.3

but I do think this is like a future investment in our own future happiness. Like, we sing the praises of this comedy film. We get more comedy films in the future. I'll be laughing my ass off two years from now, another comedy. That's the thing. I think I chewed it back at somebody as much. I was like, listen, I'm not singing this movie's praises for money. I'm doing it because it's a comedy in theaters that's good.

2:01.6

And I want as many people as humanly possible to go to that.

2:04.1

If it's Paramount, great. If it was a different studio, wouldn't care. There's not nothing to do with Paramount or a different studio, whatever. I just want people to go and see a comedy in movie theaters and then get more people to invest in these. and there's actually a funny story about how this movie came to be and how Akiva Shephyr pitched it to Paramot.

2:01.7

Oh, yeah, I saw that.

2:03.3

But before that, just want to hit it on. in these. And there's actually a funny story about how this movie came to be and how Akiva Shaffer

2:17.5

pitched it to Paramot. Oh, yeah, I saw that. But before that, just want to hit on some news really quick and also will be doing a combined ranking of comedies from the 90s as a little bit of homage, both through the fact that two of the naked gun movies came out in the 90s and also Clemer.

2:14.2

You're a 90s movie guy.

2:15.4

Yes, absolutely.

2:16.3

Nineties guy, I think.

2:17.3

I mean, in general.

2:18.6

It's the greatest decade.
