This week, progressive journalist Mehi Hassan launched a new digital media company called Zeteo, which is Greek for To Seek. Hassan's MSNBC show was cancelled late last year without any explanation, leading to an outcry among his large online following, and this

is his answer. But Hassan intends Zateo as much more than a career relaunch. He claims that the

mainstream media, among many other failings, is in some sense complicit in Donald Trump's

effort to, quote, usher in a new era of fascism in the United States.

He intends Zateo as an answer to that.

This raises many questions about what's happening to the right-wing

and progressive information spaces,

why the conventions of political reporting are failing to meet this moment,

and how to cut through the clutter and drive home the perils

facing American
