Morgan Stanley analyst Eric Woodring spent some time in Taiwan recently

and came back with lots to talk about on iPhone and a little on the Mac.

Apple 3.0 highlights some of what he had to say. On iPhone, sales of Apple's

communicator in China looked to have grown between 20% and 40% last month versus December of

2024. That was helped by weakness in Huawei smartphones, according to the note. Based on supply chain orders, Woodring and

pals are looking for iPhone shipments to be flat for calendar year 26, though the note points out

that full-year supply chain forecasts have yet to be finalized. The Morgan Stanley team thinks

Apple will bust up the iPhone 18 release cadence. If accurate, that'll see Apple releasing iPhone 18 Pro Max and the fabled foldable iPhone this fall with iPhone 18, iPhone 18E, and surprisingly iPhone 2, hitting in the spring of 2027.

The analysts expect Apple to produce between 7 million and 8 million of the foldable

phone in the second half of this year. They expect production to hit a total of 15 million

to 20 million foldables for the first full year cycle, according to the note.

They expect Apple to add a 200-mixel camera sensor to iPhone as early as 2028.

And finally, there was supply chain chatter.

Woodring thinks Apple will add Samsung as a second source for camera sensors,

while it might add ST Micro as a source for LiDAR. Now, there was less on the Mac, but what was there was notable.
