Welcome, I'm Paul Gigo Editor of the opinion pages of the Wall Street Journal.

And today on this edition of Potomac Watch, we have a special guest, Roy Cheshira.

He's a man of some note in the political world, well regarded analyst, political scientist

and author.

I think it's fair to say, and he could dispute this if he wants that he's a man of the

center left.

But he is now affiliated with the Center, right?

American Enterprise Institute.

He's the author of several books, most notably the coming Democratic majority in 2002,

which predicted with co-author John Judas, a new period of ascendancy for the Democratic

Party.

That appeared for a while to have arrived with the election of Barack Obama in 2008, but

has not turned out to be durable.

And he has now written a book that it will be forthcoming with Mr. Judas assessing what's

happened over those 20 years since the last book to the Democratic Party and American

politics.

And I think he also writes on occasion for the liberal patriot on Substack.
