0:35.0	When I heard the news and I saw the TV news flash, it was a max airplane that crashed in the ocean.
0:40.0	It was shocking and then the second crash occurs.
0:44.0	In October 2018, a new Boeing 737 Max plane flying out of Indonesia crashed and killed all passengers and crew on board.

0:57.0	Then five months later, another 737 Max plane crashed in Ethiopia, killing 157 people.
1:06.0	It's just terrible and could have all been prevented.
1:13.0	This is Ed Pearson.
1:15.0	While Ed was shocked by the crashes, he wasn't entirely surprised.
1:20.0	He'd been a senior manager at a Boeing 737 factory near Seattle,
1:25.0	and he'd seen how bad things had gotten at Boeing in the year before he left.
1:29.0	In his last few months on the job, he noticed troubling production issues.
1:33.0	Equipment delays led to backlogs on the production line.
1:36.0	Quality defects went up.
