Now it's been almost exactly a year now since the Israeli onslaught against Gaza began,

one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes on Earth, the sort of violence we've seen unleashed some of the worst obviously the 21st century and

Gaza's pre-war 2.3 million population has endured mass death, the mass maiming, the mass traumatizing, the mass

displacement of almost every single person there and that when we say mass displacement, we repeated

displacements, people forced across a tiny strip of land which is no bigger than east

London where explosives worth several times that of the Hiroshima bomb have been detonated.

Now there's no better person to speak to you about this than James Elder,

who I've spoke to before the global spokesperson for UNICEF, of course the United Nations

children's charity, children's Arms.

Arms. He's live, I'm seeking to, in Gaza right now, that's where he's been.

He's spent huge amounts of time in Gaza. It's always a privilege to speak to James,

one of the best communicators of what is one of the worst crises, disasters, human catastrophes of our age and we spoke in several times before and has always been very educational and

obviously traumatic. James it's such a pleasure as Pete you how you do?

Yeah I'm okay thanks another strange it's my fourth time back here and

last night as bad as any night I can remember.

Tell me about that because you're near Carnunis now aren't you?

Tell us where you are then why was it so bad?

Yeah I don't know.

I mean you're never you're never quite sure but it was so bad just because of very very heavy

bombardments very close you know I don't have that military background I can hear artillery now but I don't have that military background

but you start to learn how many hundreds of

meters away some of these whatever 2,000 pound bombs or whatever they are are based on
