Fiona Apple and what a discography it is her new album fetch the bolt cutters

May well be the best album of the year so far. It's pretty extraordinary and it's kind of a culmination of what she's been working on since 1996 and you're talking about

Five albums all of which I would say are excellent I think I think my panel would agree are are they all excellent yes yeah

it's pretty great good podcast over thank you very much so we thought we'd start

with fetch the bolt cutters so we don't get into the

situation where we don't end up talking about the thing that we most want to talk

about. Rob has taught me about going in reverse order and I think that's a good

lesson.

We learned that most infamously in our Beatles episode

where we never got past Ringo.

it four and a half stars or we gave it four and half stars you might have wanted to give it five stars it's no secret

that there's institutional mitigation of stars would you have given it five

stars if it was completely up to you yeah honestly I would have I mean it was

it was definitely a tough call just because, you know, how do you review an album that,

or rather, how do you rate an album that has not yet gone out

into the world?

You have no idea how much influence it's actually going to have and of

course you have to come up with these store ratings before it comes out. But yeah, I would have given

a five stars and I think a lot of people would have agreed with that.
