Volch capitalism and I came up with the subtitle because I really wanted to get across this point

that capitalism is this system that actually like undermines human freedom. this Thatcher and Reagan and people that, you know, the problem with socialism is that there's this massive state that crushes human freedom and capitalism is all about free markets.

And then actually, you know, the experience that most of us have had over however many years of neoliberalism is a massive state,

bailing out massive corporations, which have literally nothing to do with the free market.

They just make decisions and they're able to do that because you know they are

large and powerful and insulated from any accountability.

So I really wanted to like push back against that and say no actually

socialism is like the tradition of

socialists is the tradition of organizing to build and promote human freedom and

our whole critique of capitalism is that it undermines freedom it keeps people people trapped in, you know, jobs that they don't like. It prevents them from kind of organizing to change the world. It like, you know, creates this political class that is completely out of touch and completely unaccountable

and prevents us from kind of fighting back against it.
