• On Tuesday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) repeatedly asked Sec. Mayorkas if the record number of illegal migrants crossing the U.S. Southern border amounted to a “crisis.” Sec. Mayorkas refused to confirm Sen. Cruz’ assertions.
• The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board documented a “strange house call” the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) made to independent journalist Matt Taibbi’s home—unannounced “the same day Mr. Taibbi testified before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.” The WSJ Editorial Board writes, “[t]he taxman left a note instructing Mr. Taibbi to call the IRS four days later.
