I'm Tim O'Malley, joined today by Tim Preacher of Irish Illustrated and soon by John Bryce of Football Scoop.

Tim, for the second time in Marcus Freeman's tenure, the Irish are 0 and 2 when we do one of these week three podcasts.

And for the third time in four seasons, there's a loss in the first two games

we'll get to that later because Notre Dame has bigger fish to fry than history.

Defensive issues were the absolute death knell of the loss of Texas A&M so much to the point

where I just wanted to hear what on film Marcus felt Notre Dame was doing well defensively

and he did he hesitated to answer because he didn't really come up with something he felt they was doing well defensively, and he did, he hesitated to answer

because he didn't really come up with something he felt they were doing well defensively

or something that was a strength, at least, in this press conference we had.

I think we have a question on that. I do have a couple of things I could throw out there,

but obviously, you know, the game was lost on Saturday due to the defense. And, you know,

Marcus Freeman was asked about,

would he intervene? Would he get more involved? And he ultimately said, you know, he may do that.

And I think we both, probably all of us there in attendance interpreted that as he will get

more involved with it because he has to and um you know he said it

there are new wrinkles but not a new system it's not on one person it's on all of us um you know i

think that we've we've we've come to find that that it's a bit more than new wrinkles.

You know,

maybe it falls short of a new system,

but there is some confusion going on on the back end of the defense in particular.

I thought that I saw on Saturday.
