A second Iranian detainee has been executed in public in connection with the protests that began in September

with the death in custody of Massa Aminni.

His name was Majid Reza Ranavad and his family was woken early on Monday morning to be told

that he had been hanged and his body buried.

The German Foreign Minister, Anna-Lena Baerbock,

said the European Union stood firmly with those Iranians protesting against the government of the Islamic Republic.

These executions are clearly an attempt to intimidate,

not because people have committed crimes,

but solely because they voice their views on the streets,

solely because they, just like us, want to live in freedom.
